How was your week, my tarot-loving friend? I’m already missing New Orleans, although I don’t leave for another week. I’m headed back to see family (with a short detour for a writing conference in the Windy City), and I’m missing them like crazy, but it’s still hard to leave this city that has my heart. Like many things in life, traveling is awesome, but sometimes it’s HARD.

1. TAROT + PERSONALITY TYPES – Life got a lot simpler for me when I discovered my true personality type (INTP). This quirky post by Jennifer Soldner maps each of the 16 Myers Brigg Personality Types with a tarot card. If you don’t know your type, there’s a quick quiz here.

2. THE MYTHICAL NEG – Although mansplaining, negging, peacocking, and gaslighting drive me nuts, I’m actually a fan of some aspects of the Pick Up Community. Having those patriarchal, objectifying, and brutally unhealthy techniques creep into the woo-woo and mystical world, however is bullshit. This post by Lisa Fabrega is about negging and what to do when you see it happening in our communities.

3. MORNING PAGES – It’s no secret that journaling (especially tarot journaling) has been a life-changer for me, but I didn’t actually start with journaling with my tarot cards. I started by doing Morning Pages, a la Julia Cameron. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, this short post sums what Morning Pages are, how to practice them, and their effects quite nicely.

4. COLLATERAL – If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you combined the movie Love, Actually (one of my favorites) with PTSD, xenophobia, and murder…the answer is Collateral, a 4-episode TV drama that I’m recommending to everyone. It’s dark, but WOW.

5. A NEW TAROT SPREAD – If you’re feeling disconnected and untrusting of the world (like you might be after watching Collateral), here’s a tarot spread for authentically connecting with other people. There’s a printable tarot journal page, too, so you can use it as often as you need.

MORE THINGS TO LOVE…reading books that make my brain hurt…watching grippingly dark British TV with a strong female lead (Doctor Foster)…eating all the springtime berries…and sending postcards to the people I love.

All my love,

Tarot tips and resources from Tarot Card Mastery.

How was your week, my tarot-loving friend? I just landed in New Orleans, my adopted home, after a 36-ish hour train adventure. It was AWESOME!!! I’ll be eating all the crawfish and gumbo for the next few weeks, plus taking a mini-road trip through Texas to see this exhibit. Looks awesome, doesn’t it?

1. WANT STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS? – Who doesn’t want stronger, healthier relationships? Here’s a roundup of six tarot cards that can help you make your relationships stronger and more loving.

2. OH, HANK – Obsessing about this quote right now…

Knowledge without mileage equals bullshit.
– Henry Rollins

…while I try to learn all the things.

3. READING TAROT REVERSALS – Do you struggle with reading reversed (upside-down) tarot cards? Everyone does! Here’s a quick post from Little Red Tarot that might give you a new perspective and help to make it easier.

4. DEFINING SUCCESS – Everyone’s definition of success is different. Do you want lots of money, fame, or attention? That’s totally cool! But maybe you just want to make great art, have kids, or visit every one of the National Parks? That’s awesome, too! Carrie Mallon put together a nice article about using the tarot to find YOUR definition of success.

5. TRAVEL NECESSITIES – Traveling by train means lots of friendly, chatty people. Which is great for the first 6 hours, but after that, you’ll want some headphones. 🙂 While I normally pack light (and have heard great things about these), I spent a ridiculous amount of money on these heavy buggers and don’t regret it for a second. They cancel out ALL the noise and have a nice “don’t bother me” vibe.

MORE THINGS TO LOVE…Traveling by train. It’s SOOOO much better than flying!…squishy dried pineapple rings…surprise bouquets of flowers…getting the perfect Bahn Mi with my favorite lunch companion…and seeing people reading tarot cards in the sun.

Tarot Tips from Learn Tarot With Me for March.

How was your week, my tarot-loving friend? I’m knocked down with (another!) sinus infection, so I’m holed up in bed with books and my laptop. But I’ve got some great tarot goodies to share with you this week…

1. Get my favorite life-and-business planner for FREE – The 2018 edition of the Your Best Year planner is now available, for FREE. It’s dated for 2018, so you’ll still get 9 months of goodness out of it. This isn’t a daily/weekly planner – it’s more like a tough-love workbook for making sure your 2018 goals happen. Here’s a video showing how I use this planner combined with my tarot deck for Big Picture planning.

2. SHARING TAROT LOVE – I’m waiting eagerly to see what Jess Carlson is going to come up with next. She’s a bright light in my small tarot world, and always an inspiration. While she’s working on her new website & offerings, I’ll be stalking her on Instagram.

3. CELESTIAL QUEENS – Didn’t you just love seeing all of the posts about International Women’s Day yesterday? This one stood out as my favorite. Fashion & history & some beautiful badass women!

4. SPEAKING OF FASHION – After watching the Oscars and seeing how some of my favorite women have chosen to age (or attempted NOT to), I’ve been thinking a lot about my own aging choices. I’m having a harder time with 41 than I did with 40, but this unexpected post about fashion has directed my thinking towards a healthier place. I love this “wise woman” era of my life, but damn if I don’t miss non-achy joints!

5. GETTING A GOOD TAROT READING – Lately, there have been some stories about people getting ripped off by their tarot readers. Here’s a great post from Ethony about how to make sure you get a good tarot reading.

6. I’M HEADED HOME!!! – Start prepping my gumbo now! I’m taking the train down to New Orleans in a few weeks and I’m so excited to spend time in this sweet, adopted home of mine. I’m re-reading Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins, which captures this city so well…

The minute you land in New Orleans, something wet and dark leaps on you and starts humping you like a swamp dog in heat, and the only way to get that aspect of New Orleans off you is to eat it off. That means beignets and crayfish bisque and jambalaya, it means shrimp remoulade, pecan pie, and red beans with rice, it means elegant pompano au papillote, funky file z’herbes, and raw oysters by the dozen, it means grillades for breakfast, a po’ boy with chowchow at bedtime, and tubs of gumbo in between. It is not unusual for a visitor to the city to gain fifteen pounds in a week–yet the alternative is a whole lot worse. If you don’t eat day and night, if you don’t constantly funnel the indigenous flavors into your bloodstream, then the mystery beast will go right on humping you, and you will feel its sordid presence rubbing against you long after you have left town.

MORE THINGS TO LOVE…Family dinner nights at IKEA…supporting great people doing important work…finding the perfect tea cup at the thrift store…getting a haircut that makes me feel like a secret-agent-spy…and making summer plans to see the Leonard Cohen mural in Montreal.

All my love,
Angie Green from Learn Tarot With Me
